Anime Fan Service: Good or Bad

Fan service or service cut is a term used in the anime community to designate some scenes added to please the audience in other words it`s about servicing the fans.There are different types of fan service,it can be long and violent fights scenes (DBZ,One piece, Bleach...), an hyperactivity or a superhuman strength(Eyeshield 21, Inazuma eleven,..) or it can also be a full shots or a demonstration of robots(saga Gundam, Code gease,...).

But the term is now commonly used to refer  to erotic or sexual scenes in manga or anime. I remember in the 90`s anime were very family friendly, I used to watch them with my dad who is a big fan of dragon ball  and captain harlock. I don`t think I can watch an anime with him these days, that would be too awkward. Most anime  now  have some forms of  eye candy,the most common are sexy maids and girls in bathing suits or a shower scene.  Are all these ecchi scenes really pleasing to anime fans?

It`s like a trend amongst mangaka now even the big man behind One piece is using some sort of eye candy, it`s amazing how nami and robin`s boobs got bigger in the two years time lapse, I wonder what kind of training they went through.One piece is a great anime with a unique storyline and some amazing fighting scenes, no amount of ecchi will make it better than it is now.He should leave that to anime that hide their lack of originality behind ecchi, harem and incest.Fairy tail should be recategorize as a hentai, Mashima sensei is hurting this great story with his overdone ecchi and tasteless nude scenes. Then again I`m a girl I guess looking at giggling boobs or underwear POV is not as enjoyable to me as it is to the male audience.

I always liked male oriented anime, the very first anime I ever watched was saint seiya. I have been watching shonen anime ever since, the fighting scenes or the characters badass attitudes that`s what I like the most about shonen manga or anime. I can`t stand shoujo or any other sh*tty female oriented manga or anime, but with all the ecchi or harem we have these days, will shonen manga or anime still be the same?
Back in the Dragon Ball Z or Bleach days, there were barely any nudity in anime and honestly I miss those days. 

                                        

Shonen Jump Top 10 Best Manga Ever!

Da Vinci News a Japanese website just released Shonen Jump top 10 best manga voted by Japanese fans. Let`s see who made it to the top 10




10-Saint Seiya:

Saint Seiya animated series was very big in the early 90`s like I said in one of my previous post , Masami Kurumada surpassed himself to produce such fantastic manga,I highly recommend you to watch the original animated series.It`s the very first anime I ever watched and I am still hooked today.

09-Naruto:
  
No need to introduce this manga, we all heard of naruto sasuke and kakashi. I`m not a naruto fan but Neiji is my favourite character(all my fav characters always end up dead) and I really loved the fights against akatsuki, sasori is one of my favourite akatsuki member.The follow up to shippuden will start in spring 2015 and I wonder what Kishimoto sensei will call it.

08-Hokuto No Ken:



Also known as the fist of the north star, It`s a manga written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara, another 90`s popular anime. It`s a martial art manga with a lots of violence and gore.

07-Koshikame:

Never heard of this one, must be one of those manga that never made it to Europe.

06-Captain Tsubasa:

This is another childhood memory, I never read the manga but it was called Olive and Tom, a very popular anime back then, we have Inazuma eleven now.captain tsubasa was our football anime reference back then.Perfect for sports anime fans.

05-Jojo`s Bizzare Adventure:

I`m sure we all heard of the Joestars family, the story spans around several generation of Joestars.It`s a fantastic manga, the plot and characters are different for each generation. I recommend you to read the manga, the animated series is a joke compared to the manga.

04-Slam Dunk:

If you are an anime fan and you never heard of slam dunk, shame on you. Ashita no Joe and slam dunk are a reference of sports manga.The manga was written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue, the author of Vagabond which is a fantastic historical manga based on Miyamoto Musashi one of Japan best samurai.I am a big fan of Inoue sensei work, I hope they will be a vagabond anime soon.

03-Gintama:

I`m going to be honest here, I didn`t see this coming.Gintama better than naruto or bleach?I watched this anime three times and I could never make it past 20 episodes,I guess Japanese humour is not for me.

02-One Piece:

No surprise here, one piece is the best selling manga in Japan and has been at the top for many years, the only manga to ever knock it off the first spot is attack on titan and I wonder if that will happen again.

01-Dragon Ball:

No words are great enough to discribe this master piece!

These manga are considered Shonen Jump best manga ever, I think anyone who started watching anime in the 90`s will agree with some Japanese fans. Saint Seiya or Hokuto no ken paved the way for what I consider the best manga of all time: Dragon Ball.

Anime: My Top 5 Epic Fails!

I have been watching anime since the 90`s with a little break a few years back. I watched my fair share of excellent,good,annoying and awful anime.I am now going to list my top 5 of the worst anime I ever watched. Here we go

  1- BASILISK: The Kouga ninja scrolls
Basilisk is based on a popular manga by Masaki Segawa which tells the story of  Tsubakagure of Iga and Manjidani of Kouga. who battle each other to determine  which of Tokugawa Ieyasu grandsons will be the next Shogun.It`s one of my favourite manga, the storyline is not original but I love the star crossed lovers part, it`s a ninja version of Romeo and Juliet.The animated series was an epic fail it didn`t do justice to this fantastic manga,the battles order were changed,some added and censored scenes. A disgrace to the original novel by Futaro Yamada.            

2-KILL ME BABY:
The story is about a high school girl Yasune Oribe ,her female assassin friend Sonya and Agiri Goshiki a female ninja. I have only 3 words for this anime: annoying, boring and useless.  

3-THE STORY OF THE ARCANE FAMILY:
This anime was my biggest deception of 2012, after watching a preview I was so excited about it.It looked so great and badass , being a big fan of Hitman Reborn I thought this will be another fantastic mafia anime.It turned out to be a really crappy anime, the game probably sucks too!

4-HIIRO NO KAKERA:  
It`s based on an otome game, it`s about a teenage girl called Tamaki who turns out to be an ancestor princess.Her mission is to seal the sword of onikirimaru with her five guardians.This is so deja vu, the story lacks originality it reminds me of  an anime I watched a few years ago called Fushigi Yugi. Anime based on games are so hot this days, after the great Hakuoki series and the epic Sengoku Basara, Hiiro no Kakero was another 2012 disappointment.

5-A CERTAIN MAGICAL INDEX:
Let me say this first, I love light novels and Toaru  Majutsu no index is one of my favourite,that`s why the animated series is fifth in my list.
The story is set in a world were supernatural abilities are common and people with superpower awaken via a special power program are called Esper, those who amongst Espers  naturally develop theirs are  Gemstones and then the magicians.The storyline is great,  there is so much potential but the overdone ecchi and harem make it look like one those crappy anime filled with a lots of ecchi to cover the lack of originality. This anime didn`t do justice to Kanzaki who is a great character.

These are 5 of the worst anime I ever watched and this list will probably change with time if I keep on watching anime.

DEAR MOTHER!

Adulthood sucks!

I know  a daughter is a little girl who is suppose to grow up to follow in her mother`s footsteps,be her best friend and you are such a great role model to me.
But after much research, consideration and experimentation.I have decided that adulthood is not for me.Thank you for giving me the opportunity.

Anime:Epic Fails! Reactions

Claire`s 5 biggest fails in Anime History! 

1-Black Cat: the manga is fantastic, train hearnet is a good character but the anime failed to show the manga real potential and the humour was a bit overdone 

2-Vampire Knight Guilty: Zero is one my fav character but in VKG he looked like a big looser struggling with his sexuality.A real joke compared to the first season,great music though 

3-Btooom: I was really disappointed by the anime,Btooom storyline is so unique I expected madhouse to produce a real gem, Ryota voice actor is awful he sounds like a duck. 

   4-Medaka box: Not a big fan but the manga is far better than the anime,Medaka is very annoying and the story was kind of boring deja vu 

  5-Detective Conan: the storyline is getting boring and that kid needs to grow a bit, how long  will he still be 7? It hadn`t improved in the last 10years
